Dr. Lynn Appointed to National Urban League Board

(New York, NY) — National Urban League president and CEO, Marc Morial and the National Urban League board has appointed Dr. Louis B. Lynn, founder and chairman of ENVIRO AgScience, to a three-year term, as a trustee on the national board at the Spring Meeting on April 15, 2015 in New York, NY.

Dr. Lynn and a diverse group of Fortune 500 leaders, corporate and civic executives from across the country will continue the work to further the National Urban League’s goals and mission. Since 1920, the National Urban League serves to increase opportunities through education, jobs, housing, health and business initiatives. The National Urban League has 95 affiliates serving 300 communities across the United States, including 3 in South Carolina.

Dr. Lynn has served as a member of the South Carolina Columbia Urban League since 2008. South Carolina has not had a member on the national board for over 20 years.  “Over the years, Dr. Lynn has been an active and strong supporter of this affiliate by giving generously of his time and talent”, says James T. McLawhorn, Jr., president and CEO, Columbia Urban League. “He will be a welcome addition to the national board.”

Dr. Lynn has the unique opportunity to lend his vast experience to the National Urban League board from several perspectives, which include colleges and universities, national corporate boards and as a successful 30-year old business owner. Since Dr. Lynn has served on the Clemson University Board of Trustees for 26 years and 2-terms on the board of the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education. Dr. Lynn is well prepared to lead a national conversation on transitioning from college life to the corporate workforce for the National Urban League. Since Dr. Lynn serves on the corporate board of BB&T, a Top 10 U.S. bank, he will also assist with the National Urban League initiatives on increasing boardroom diversity & inclusion for Fortune 500 companies.

Dr. Lynn’s appointment became effective immediately.
